Quote from Aaron Gallegos (The Santanamigos Group on Facebook July 20, 2024): The first time I saw Santana was in 1978 at Cal Jam II in Southern California. They played between Heart and Ted Nugent, who we really came to the festival to see. I thought Santana was great, and it was fantastic to see a group play that included Latinos like me, but I wasn't hooked. That happened 12 years later at the Earthquake Relief concert at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium in 1990. Seeing them play close-up in a small(ish) general admission venue blew my mind and made me a fan for the rest of my life.

Quote from Frank Lattermann (The Santanamigos Group on Facebook July 20, 2024): I saw him the first time in 1978 at 13 years old in Munich. My third "Rock" concert. After listening to "Moonflower" and "Abraxas" I had to see them. I was a drummer and the solo by Graham Lear on "Moonflower" was just great for my young ears. Then "Inner Secrets" came out right before the concert. A wonderful time. The opening act thing with the Devadip Orchestra was confusing. I didn't understand the concept of quasi the same members playing all those instrumentals for 30 minutes, before coming back and playing the 'real' show. In Germany you are too young to go without parents at 13 years old, so they came with me. They liked it too.
