Quote from Bill Graham: Jon Peters (the producer) wanted 50.000 people in a stadium from 7 am until dark as extras for the live concert scenes. I lined up Peter Frampton, Santana, Graham Central Station and Ronnie Mentrose to perform. The plan was very simple. A live performance by a band and then some movie action on stage and then another band and so on. The intent was to keep the fans entertained throughout the long ordeal.

🎫 May 30 Sun: Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines, IA
Quote from Dick Dixon (The Santanamigos Group on Facebook July 20, 2024): I first saw them on May 30, 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa. It was a foggy morning as I began the 3 hour drive to the venue and Santana was just one of four bands scheduled to play. The lineup was Pure Prairie League, the J. Geils Band, Santana and the headliner Foghat. By the time it was Santana's turn the PA system was having problems with the sound cutting in and out, then distorting terribly on one side. It was quite disappointing to say the least. If my memory is right they played a couple songs from "Borboletta" along with several from "Amigos", and of course "Black Magic Woman" and "Oye Como Va"...

W/Bobby Berge, Tommy Bolin, Mark Stein
Quote from Tommy Bolin Archives (Facebook Nov 8, 2024): Bobby Berge recalls "At some point, drummer Ndugu nodded for me to come up, and soon all of TBB was up, jamming with Carlos Santana. I remember it was a very fast Latin jam." Mark Stein recalls: "Not to toot my own horn, but Carlos was smiling at me... I was stage left (out of the photo) jamming with those two amazings after our show... Great night... Santana loved Tommy Bolin Band... That night we all hung out and talked music history..."
